I read:
make help
info build Info documentation with images
install-info install Info documentation with images
But when I use make info and make install-info, I get total crap pages
like
File: lilypond-notation.info, Node: Pitches, Next: Rhythms, Up: Musical
notation
1.1 Pitches
===========
[[image of music]]
This section discusses how to specify the pitch of notes. There are
three steps to this process: input, modification, and output.
* Menu:
* Writing pitches::
* Changing multiple pitches::
* Displaying pitches::
* Note heads::
The info pages are close to useless without the images. So what gives?
Why have the images been removed?
I read
commit 6e8293f5eef359de1097ef7e3a183fd3ac630fa7

Copy images as part of the install-info make target
By default, install-info uses a symlink to html documentation for
included images. This results in broken links unless the user also runs
make install-WWW, which is unlikely since there is already a target for
exactly that combination: install-doc.
Update install-info to copy images, but keep the old behaviour when
install-doc is run (because the symlink will work in that case and there
is no need to copy duplicate images).
Closes #6110
but in fact neither install-info nor install-doc any longer appear to
generate info files referencing images.
