Hello,
As per the changes to the GNU ftp site, new releases of nano
will be GPG signed rather than using an md5sum. Up to and including
version 1.2.2 will include md5sums of the tar file, but future versions
will include only an ASCII armored, detached signature. To verify the
authenticity of future versions of nano, simply run:
gpg --verify nano-<version>.tar.gz.asc nano-<version>.tar.gz
If this procedure changes I will notify via these lists. Thanks and
have a good weekend.
