Now resolved, I think I must have done some *other* things to this
image at the grub prompt.

I started with a new copy and did just the above at the grub prompt
and now it works fine.

Sorry for the noise everyone.


While I'm here, the above sequence seems to be remembered somehow as
the next time I start the same Virtualbox image it just boots to W10
with no intervention.  Is grub somehow remembering the above for me or
is it Virtualbox?
