Grub does not boot after kernel update

Hi,

 I have a OpenSuse 11.3 system which I updated, but now grub does not boot 
the new system. I only get GRUB on the screen and nothing else. I can not 
give any input.  I booted from a live CD and tried

mount /dev/system/root /mnt
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot
mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev
chroot /mnt
mount /proc
mount /sys
mkinitrd

without success.

mkinitrd showed:
