It could be something "wrong" with a build machine, although my
suspicion for a while is that various things are broken/don't work on
btrfs, which milano-guix-1 (the most important x86_64-linux) build
machine uses.

I've filed a few issues that probably relate to this:

https://issues.guix.gnu.org/60202

There are other build machines that don't use btrfs, so it should be
possible to get these things built anyway.
