Oh, my. gpsd version 3.11? That is ancient. I can't count the number of
known bugs in that version that are now fixed...

Many people have thought how to compensate for when the GPS just lies.
Only good answer so far is to jsut ignore the bad data (the date).

Yeah, only in NTPsec.

If we could figure out a way to have gpsd to compensate, we would try
it, but no good ideas yet.
Ideas welcome. If you had the current leap second, or the current almanac
(that contains the current leap second), then maybe gpsd could disambiguate
the real current year.
People rely on gpsd to set their RTC, so can't use the RTC to tell the
current year. Chicken and egg thing...
