The answer is a bit convoluted.

My experience is that gpsd will see, but not use, GLONASS satellites
if they are enabled.  Some speculate that the GPS thinks the GLONASS
degrades GPS accuracy.  So no harm there in having GLONASS enabled.

My experience is similar with BeiDou satellites.  Except now and then
one will be used, and the fix error reduced. if they are enabled.  So no
harm there in having BeiDou enabled.

The problem is current u-blox 8 are two channel systems.  GPS, SBAS,
QZSS and Galileo use one.  GLONASS uses another, and BeiDou a third.

So if you want GPS, you have to pick BeiDou, or GLONASS.

See Section 4.2 in u-blox8 M8 Receiver Description Spec.

The new ubtool program makes it real easy to flip different GNSS
on and off with gpsd.
