Thank you for the enlightenment, Richard.

I own a supermarket in Brazil, and I'm really tired about the lack of documentation and various problems with the current ERP we use. Do you know any free software projects in this area? If so, I'm willing to contribute to it. Also, is there anything similar to an ERP in the GNU project?

yes, the project is abandoned for years.

If you are looking for an ERP, GNU Enterprise is not the right tool for
you. Although the aim of the project originally was to create an ERP in
the end, we never got past the point of being a set of tools for the
development of database applications.

What happened? The development was always driven by a handfull of
people, and all of them have dropped out over time. There's simply no
active development any more since a few years.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but GNUe isn't what you're looking for.
