The GNU Enterprise team proudly announces

   GNUe Application Server 0.5.0.99-pre1.


This is a preview release and mainly targeted at developers,
packagers and translators.  You can expect the final release
within a few days.


We request all translators to send in their translations as
soon as possible so they can be included in the final release.


The GNUe Application Server (AppServer) is the core of the n-tier
variant of the GNU Enterprise system. To the front end (be it GNUe
Forms, GNUe Reports or any other tool), it provides user-definable
business objects with arbitary fields and methods. While transforming
access to those fields and methods into database communication
and calling of scripts, it cares about stability, security, speed,
and consistency.


This prerelease contains the following changes and new
features of the upcoming final release:

* Warning if old appserver runs with current client
* Cleaned up unicode usage, all of gnue-appserver should now be unicode safe
* Adapted to new gnue-common language adapter interface
* Massive performance improvements
* New hessian transport protocol
* Improved Fink configuration for new version of Fink
