problems with --getsms and nokia 6630

first thanks for gnokii/gnapplet, it is great!
I'm using the latest gnapplet ( c4b1fb18ae3cd245667a5b2e84338b70 
gnapplet.sis ) and gnokii 0.6.12 on my nokia 6630, but I'm unable to get
smses:

gnokii blocks here and gnapplet quits (it crashes, I suppose)

how can I get some more detailed logs WRT gnapplet? is that enough to debug?
