I haven't used gnokii for some months,
and when I downloaded the RPM from the above URL,
and tried to link to my Nokia 6310,
I got the following response:
===================================
Script started on Wed 21 Jan 2004 11:36:20 GMT
address@hidden tim]$ gnokii --identify
GNOKII Version 0.5.9
Couldn't open PHONET device: Success
Telephone interface init failed: Command failed.
Quitting.
address@hidden tim]$ su
Password:
address@hidden tim]# l2ping $PHONE
Ping: 00:02:EE:10:A5:BE from 08:00:46:21:58:29 (data size 20) ...
0 bytes from 00:02:EE:10:A5:BE id 200 time 40.70ms
...
address@hidden tim]# exit
exit
address@hidden tim]$ exit
Script done on Wed 21 Jan 2004 11:37:07 GMT
===================================
I'm using Bluetooth to connect to the phone;
I include the l2ping response above to show that
Bluetooth is actually talking to the phone.
What exactly is the PHONET device?
Should I reset the permissions on this?
Here are the uncommented lines from my .gnokiirc
===================================
[global]
port = 00:02:EE:10:A5:BE
model = 6310
initlength = default
connection = bluetooth
bindir = /usr/local/sbin/
use_locking = no
serial_baudrate = 19200
smsc_timeout = 10
[connect_script]
TELEPHONE = 0862336090
[disconnect_script]
===================================
I turned off use_locking because gnokii said
I had the wrong permissions on the directory,
presumably /var/lock ,
and I didn't really want to change this.
Incidentally, I wasn't able to dowload the CVS,
as I never got any response to
===================================
Script started on Wed 21 Jan 2004 11:56:59 GMT
address@hidden gnokii]$ export
CVSROOT=:pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/ gnokii
address@hidden gnokii]$ cvs login
Logging in to :pserver:address@hidden:2401/cvsroot/gnokii
CVS password:
cvs [login aborted]: received interrupt signal
address@hidden gnokii]$ exit
Script done on Wed 21 Jan 2004 12:00:12 GMT

Has there been some change in the setup?
Any help or advice gratefully received.
