thanks for pointing to that - in my view having FORWARD declarations would be appreciated to ensure portability - but also no "must have".

There was talk of doing something with FORWARD in 2015 (https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/gm2/2015-07/msg00019.html).  I assume nothing was done because the gm2-14.1.0 documentation is silent on the matter.

I am not asking for it -- I am simply curious as to your thoughts. (This came about looking at the ETHZ single-pass compiler, which is peppered with FORWARD.)
