After a much longer time than I realized, the Linux Simple I/O Library
(https://github.com/pmunts/libsimpleio) bindings for GNU Modula-2 are
substantially finished. Prebuilt packages for 64-bit Debian Linux 12
(Bookworm) are available at the Munts Technologies Debian package
repository at:
http://repo.munts.com/debian12
Notably, the arm64 package works on the current 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS.
The thick, quasi-object oriented bindings work compiled by either the
Debian 12 (including Raspberry Pi OS) native GCC 12 toolchain (gm2-12 et
al), or the Crosstool-NG GCC 13.2.0 cross-toolchain that is part of the
MuntsOS Embedded Linux (https://github.com/pmunts/muntsos).
MuntsOS Application Note #14
(http://git.munts.com/muntsos/doc/AppNote14-Flash-LED-Modula2.pdf)
illustrates how to build Modula-2 programs for embedded systems running
MuntsOS Embedded Linux.
