This will be problematic.  I tried building various versions (2.0.7, 
1.4.1, and 1.3.7) under various compilers (gcc, clang).  The build 
succeeds but the tests seg fault due to misaligned pointers.  I have run 
out of time for the time being but will return to it in the future to 
investigate.
