[Gm2] Report of gm2-2009-12-24 on Solaris 10/Sparc

To be precise, I built on SunOS 5.10 Generic_137137-09 sun4u sparc.

I decided to start afresh with a fresh copy of gcc-4.1.2.

1. The gm2 patches did not quite work until I used gpatch (the GNU  
version supplied with Solaris 10).

2. As reported by Michael, date is invoked with GNUish options.  I  
substituted gdate (the GNU version).

3. There appear to be Bashisms in makeversion as there were problems  
despite using gdate.  The script
invoked /bin/sh, which is not necessarily bash;  there were no  
problems after I invoked  /bin/bash.

After this, gm2 built.  I did not run gm2.paranoid.  Check-gm2  
produced the following (with full results conveyed to Gaius).

# of unexpected failures        775
# of unresolved testcases       36

Installation was successful.
