Hello,
         First of all to put things into perspective here I would like
to add a few questions:

1. What are you planning your mirror to be ? A local university mirror
or a public mirror or something else ?
2. What kind of bandwidth you can afford ?
3. Did you go through this link

If you have any doubts please ask after reading this link.
4. Managing a mirror ( if it is a public one ) is a responsible job
that must be handled well and on a long term basis so keep that in
mind as well.
5. Anything else if I am forgetting please add on.
