Gnome seems to follow the standard 'open source rule of good conduct' that you
first have to be involved into something (not necessarily gcmd) proving you're
serious, then you can get an account. In other words, you need to be known by a
'good name'. But i guess with a project like gcmd, which is not essential for
the Gnome desktop, they'll be glad to find someone and speed up the procedure.
Andrea Veri from gnome.org replied, he may be able to find a gnome developer
who's accepting patches, for now. He's available for questions at irc.gnome.org
#sysadmin, nickname 'av'.
