This is something to be evaluated as part of the GSoC project.

The target is to improve and streamline FreeType's debugging
capabilities. Please have a look at file

to see how debugging works.
Armin, can you chime in? You probably know better than me what could
be improved. And would you be willing to act as a mentor for this
GSoC project?

Of course. Only if some preprocessor macros are defined at configure
time, this feature is available – I won't change that. In other
words, it will stay as a developer-only feature. Irrespective of
that, good debugging messages are *invaluable* and thus worth to be
improved.
