I see that HarfBuzz indeed depends on FreeType, so I really wonder why
ttfautohint doesn't work for you.  On the other hand, the file

  https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/blob/master/Library/Formula/freetype.rb

doesn't seem to reflect yet that FreeType depends on HarfBuzz and
should be compiled again – but this shouldn't affect ttfautohint, as
mentioned in a previous e-mail.
