Please look at mercural

a fast, lightweight Source Control Management system designed for 
efficient handling of very large distributed projects.

It's realy easy to work with it, there is a lot of docs on site
several big projects use it or have un-official mirror

It has binaries for all major  platform - linux, osx, windows
It also has gui viewer hgtk (direct port of the gitk tool used with git)

And it can be synced with cvs on cron too
