First of all, the code within FreeType should *never* use 'free'
or 'malloc' directly. The font engine can be compiled in environments
where these functions are not available.

Your problem is that the public API of the validation components
lacks a proper function to release the memory the have allocated.

define and implement one, then modify the ftvalid.c test program
to call it.
