[Devel] ftview and gray4 support

hello

Using Fontforge, I can generate a TrueType font containing
(mostly) bitmaps, with 16 gray levels.

This font does not show up in ftview, because there is no support
for rendering a glyph with 'GRAY4' property.

Has anybody tried to enhance ftview on this aspect?

Or does anybody knows a program, preferably for a unix system
but eventually for windows, that would display such a font.
