That's probably the biggest issue. I wasn't able to find any documentation
or useful information either. There are some comments in the freetype source
which might give some hints as to the difference between CEF and CFF, but I
am not sure if that is enough.

Could someone point me to some docs for CEF? I hadn't heard of it
before this question arose, and a quick search didn't find anything
helpful...
