I learned that the 'custom' adobe encoding is not standardized, so instead
of using the encoded values, I pulled the zapf dingbats glyph names and
built code to use that. It's gonna be slower, but it shouldn't break when
faced with other fonts using custom encodings.

You should be able to check out current fontconfig CVS, then install it on
top of the fontconfig from RH 9 and things should "just work".
