One thing to note, your monitor is set to a 9300K white point. I
recommend that you change it to D65 (or 6500K). Don't think it will
help much in your 'things look dark' problem.
Another thing is that you're using a 3dfx card. I have some
reservations about their colour reproduction, after some very bad
experiences with their overlay surfaces. They use an incorrect
transform from Y'CbCr to R'G'B', resulting in terrible colour
reproduction for video content.
