[Devel] Runtime check for bytecode interpreter?

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to check at runtime if the library 
is compiled with the byte code interpreter?

I suppose that on linux I can always do:
        handle = dlopen(NULL,RTLD_LAZY)
        if ( dlsym(handle,"TT_RunIns")!=NULL )
                /* Found it */;
        dlclose(handle)
But I'm hoping there's a more portable method...
