Hmm, it appears that this never actually happened.
The attached implements this render mode in a simple manner for both
the postscript hinter and autohinter. If the render mode is
RENDER_MODE_LIGHT, then it doesn't touch stem widths at all.
This gives a result reasonably similar to the "best shapes" option
in Red Hat 8.0.
