Sure, I certainly will factor out any scaling of the transformation. This way
I can lookup the font based on the exact pixel size, i.e. in device space, not
user space.
Wrt. transforming glyphs, if I rasterize the glyph (including hinting) before
transforming it, how valuable are the hints ? I mean, in openGL I could equally
well just use 'texels'. i.e. provide the glyph pixmap as a texture and let
openGL
do the mapping from texels to pixels. So I thought that hinting the transformed
glyph was the only way to go, otherwise I don't need to hint at all (if the
trafo
is not simply identity).
