This message announces the release of FreeSnell-1c1.

FreeSnell is a program which computes optical properties of multilayer
thin-film coatings. Dielectric, metallic, and granular metallic films
are supported. The FreeSnell package includes a SCM script (program)
"nk" to create, manage, and query a refractive-index spectral
database.

FreeSnell is an application of the SCM Scheme implementation and the
WB B-tree database package.

FreeSnell is free software. It is released under the GNU General
Public License (GPL).

The FreeSnell home page details installation and links to
distributions, documentation, and examples:

FreeSnell-1c1 news:

FreeSnell-1c1 is a minor release. Details at
<http://cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/*checkout*/freesnell/freesnell/ChangeLog>

  From Vitali Mueller
  * fresneleq.scm (combine-layers): Corrected transmission for
    non-normal incidence with unequal substrate IRs.

  From Aubrey Jaffer
  * fresneleq.scm (combine-layers): Warn if final matrix is not finite.
  * optiplot.scm (samples): Added optional second argument to control
    spacing of samples.
  * optiplot.scm (plot-response): Added solar command.
  * solar-am15.scm: Added code to integrate transfer functions with
    solar spectral irradiance.
  * optiplot.scm (find-average): Put column averages into log.
  * opticolr.scm (write-color-table.eps): Modified color tables to
    have constant layer mass across rows.
  * nk.scm (load-spectrum.nk): Detect and recover from bad lines.
  * polyethylene.scm (pe-33): Tweaked eV range to avoid singularity.
  * pe.nk: Polyethylene values from 2.eV to 8.eV from:
    L. R. Painter, E. T. Arakawa, M. W. Williams, J. C. Ashley
    Optical Properties of Polyethylene: Measurement and Applications
    Radiation Research Vol. 83, No. 1 (Jul., 1980), pp. 1-18
    Stable URL: http://www.jstor.org/stable/3575254
  * AL2O3-e.nk, AL2O3.nk, a-AL2O3.nk: Added Palik infrared data from
    luxpop.com circa 2006.
  * Makefile (snapdir, infodir, htmldir): Added defaults so that make
    works with empty config.status.
  * optiplot.scm (ps:viewer): Use full gsview pathname for Windows.
    (plot-response): Output-data ir-spectra if no optical-stack.
  * FreeSnell.texi, nk.html (Wedged Databases): Added section.
    (Creating Databases): How to build local database.
