Ahead? Only as far as putting this feature up for discussion officially.
Please don't let my preliminary noodling dissuade you from pursuing a
nicer solution. (The same goes for anyone else possibly interested in
adopting this or any other bug set.)

Sweet! There's certainly no rush. We move pretty slowly around here if
you haven't noticed. So please do get in on the conversation. We could
definitely use some help steering this client in a smarter direction.
