Keep in mind that a homepage with lot’s of stuff on it also needs a lot of regular maintenance, we just lack the resources for this (IIRC at the moment only Riccardo alone maintains the website).
The Haiku website is totaly automatised (build on Drupal).
If that’s the case, well it is a good thing to have. Automatic solutions can help small teams a great deal. And it pays of to post in social media when the content of such posts appears on the home page as well.
But I still prefer a less overloaded look like haiku has one. I’d like to be able to direct people to the home page and don’t need to explain a lot of outdated content (because of lack of active folks in this area).
