rethinking rejected request for `wc -q`

Subject: rethinking rejected request for `wc -q`

Hello

`wc -q` is listed as a rejected feature request [1] because
"redirecting file to stdin is sufficient". However, I don't think
this is sufficient because it only works when handling a single file.

A feature request in the mailing list after the above [2], suggests to
me that the feature was thought about.

I don't mind sending a patch that implements it, but please let me
know if I should bother.

Many thanks
David
