I guess I am basically maintaining vector-lib.

The new test suite is good, but the patch is mostly noise and reverts
some changes that were made for Chicken.

The existing code is synced with the reference implementation as of
2008-01-12.  If you can apply *only* the changes from the ref. impl.
from 2008-01-12 until now--which may be a couple fixes from Will
Clinger--and create another patch, that would be great.
If you need to made any changes from there yourself, put them in a
second patch.  Easier to keep things synced up that way.
