Sounds good to me - especially as the "ATC client" alias radar
operator's workplace which I'm talking about is designed to be as
portable as possible and, to my current knowledge, doesn't contain a
single dependency on native platform libraries.

The application is meant to provide a RADAR screen as defined primarily
by the EUROCONTROL guidelines "A Human-Machine Interface Reference
System for En-Route Air Traffic Control" and "Requirements for the
Implementation of Automatic and Manual Label Anti-Overlap Functions".
Currently it's being connected to FlightGear's own MultiPlayer network
for air traffic monitoring, but the developer is prepared to hook his
application onto different data providers - depending on wether a
specification is available.

The current requirements are pretty simple: In order to monitor air
traffic from HLA the guy just needs a native Java client library that
is able to read CERTI wire protocol and delivers position, velocity and
callsign. But this is far from being an urgent task because at the
current state nobody has FlightGear with HLA in 'production use' (at
least I don't know of such use). This is more an outlook into future
use of HLA with FlightGear.

Cheers,
        Martin.
