Follow-up Comment #1, bug #48571 (project xboard):
I looked again at it and here's what I realized:
I went to the Konsole and I gave "export LANG=C" (for switching
Konsole interface -> English).
The I gave "xboard" and indeed XBoard loaded in memory successfully
and informed me that couldn't load fairymax.
Well...fair enough that couldn't find fairymax, because I don't have it
installed. :-)
Then I loaded GNU Chess as the 1st (or the 2nd) engine, without any crash or
error message.
Problem solved for the moment.
Then I returned my Konsole to my mother language (Greek) again (giving "export
LANG=el_GR.UTF-8") and I retried. The problem remains and XBoard keeps
crashing while loading GNU Chess.
Seems the problem is happening at non-English locales???
