Hi,

I'm just a user of tar but I can say that the patch seems to work at least 
when applied to tar 1.34+dfsg-1 present in Debian 11. This allows me to
finally copy Debian installations using tar. In the past there was a risk 
that the ACL entries would get misunderstood if the live USB that I used 
to run tar happened to have particularly problematic /etc/passwd.

Please let me know if you'd need some more testing for this patch to be 
accepted.
