User-agent: Evolution 3.44.4-0ubuntu1

Xubuntu - Desktop: Xfce 4.14.2, Distro: Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS, xfce4-
terminal 0.8.9.1 GNU bash, version 5.0.17

also

.Xubuntu - Desktop: Xfce 4.16.0, Distro: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS,
xfce4-terminal 0.8.10 GNU bash, version 5.1.16

Both using X11 display

Using KB shortcut CTRL-A (or Home) on short commands takes the cursor
correctly from end of command to the first character of the command.
With longer commands it does not go to the start, eg for command of 23
characters, the cursor goes to character 11. Using CTRL-E (or End) on
incorectly placed cursor takes cursor beyond end of the command eg by
about 11 characters.

Long commands are executed correctly.

After executing the long command up-arrow for history shows command
correctly. If then followed by down-arrow it shows the first part of
the command ie up to character 10, rather than correct blank line.

Run sequence short, long, short commands. Successive up_arrow for
history shows
short command (last executed), long command, 10 characters of long +
short command appended. CTRL-C clears garbage and then the sequence
can be repeated with up-arrows.

It seems that readline is executing correctly since the long command is
executed correctly and is saved correctly as in history.
