Follow-up Comment #4:
Reopening since comment #3 raises an objection to -w's current behavior and
suggests a "useful change to afmtodit," which based on comment #1 would solve
the problem Alex is seeing.
It's not clear (to me), though, how the below case should be handled, or if
this is the proper use case for -w:
