Follow-up Comment #1, bug #61646 (project groff):
You're likely already aware, if you've been troubled by this commit before,
but it originated as a patch posted to bug-groff
(http://lists.gnu.org/r/bug-groff/2011-05/msg00000.html). That post is useful
as it contains a test case showing the bug the commit was designed to solve.
The original patch already underwent some debugging before it was committed
(see thread starting at
http://lists.gnu.org/r/bug-groff/2011-07/msg00001.html, which unfortunately
omits a crucial message).
Bug #42217 was an early victim of this commit.
