Follow-up Comment #1, bug #42191 (project groff):
Is there anything that should prevent this patch from being applied? It
solves a legitimate problem that results in illegible output, and it has
caused no problems that I've noticed since first applying it in 2011.
I've attached it to this bug report, tweaked slightly so that it will apply to
the latest tmac/e.tmac-u.
