RE: [Bug-gnubg] Auto Save Settings - your opinion?

I think settings ought to auto-save, because that is what most users
expect from a GUI program. However, I do have sympathy with the view
that users should control exactly when saves happen.

One gripe I have is that it is a "save one, save all" deal: if you save
your board design you also save your analysis settings and player names.


Perhaps it's too much, but would a set of auto-save options resolve the
issue. Something like:

Auto Save:
Play settings
Player names
Rollout Settings
Analysis Settings
Board design
Windows arrangement

By default, I would enable auto save of all but player names. You
probably don't want your default settings changed when you import a
match. (Ideally, I would automatically update a player name when you
select gnubg as a player: "gnubg 0-ply", "gnubg 2-ply" etc but this
would not be saved. But this may be too personal a preference.)
