(When I'm browsing this it may look like the bug is still there, but instead of 
closing down, it gives a warning, return a blank, and moves on. Not really a 
bug fix.

Not sure.....

Updating the pango lib will only give the warning. At least it prevents exit. 
Change the font, maybe? Is that difficult? Is there any TT font available at 
all machines?
