Jim,

no file name guessing is intended here, it's just that the import/export
dialogs themselves have comboboxes, which are 1:1 to the pulldown menues. So
for the pulldown, a simple "export" would be enough, details can be done in
the dialog. That would clearly simplify the menu structure without losing
anything. Basically, the pulldown dialogs and the toolbar dialogs would be
identical after the proposed change.

Different pathes are fine, that's why 3.1 (it's not implemented in the GUI
at the moment). Finally, GTK 2.6 has the concept of bookmarks, which could
even replace the default pathes, but we are safe if we offer both variants.
