As Jim says, it's basically a function called GenerateMoves. The code
is done by Gary, really clever! Take also a look at his article
here: http://www.bkgm.com/rgb/rgb.cgi?view+593

The code in the article is about the same as the one in GNU Backgammon.
(Obviously, since it is the same ingenious author.)
