No objections,
but...
there is a (3).
That is:
create the temporary .gnubgpr999999 (as it is done now)
delete .gnubgpr
read .gnubgpr999999
write .gnubgpr
delete .gnubgpr999999
(I don't know if this is conform to *nix 'rules')
