Hello,
I am attempting to put together an on-line tutorial for PSPP. After re-coding a variable into different variables, the output window freezes, followed by a program freeze. I tried re-coding the variable in SSPS, and then opening the file again in PSPP, but it freezes when I try to do a Frequency Analysis on "Age" and "RecZodiac." Upon restarting, I see this error message:
warning: `C:\[filepath]' near offset 0xc8f94: Unrecognized record 7, subtype 24. Please send a copy of this file, and the syntax which created it to
address@hidden. Other files work fine, as does the file for the same year downloaded from the GSS website.
I re-coded the variable "Zodiac," clicking on the "Old and New Variables" button from the "Recode into Different Variables" window. First, under "Old Value," I entered the range as 1-6, setting the "New Value" to 1. Then I entered the range as 7-9 under "Old Value," setting the "New Value" to 2. I change the name to RecZodiac, and click on OK.
Attached is the file I'm using.
Also, do you know if there is a way to alphabetize variables, as well as create scatter plots?
Thanks,
Brian
