Yes, you right. Some of autotools override it after auto*-1.16
was missed (I don't want to replay build to find precise answer for
"what?").
Nevertheless you force me at least set '?=' for
AUTOCONF and friends in Makefile.devel to have a chance override ones.
"old-fashioned suffix rules cannot have any prerequisites"^1 is here
too ;).
