I haven't said that this is a bug in Libtool; it probably isn't.
I don't yet know whose bug it is, though, and people use Libtool as
kitchen sink for workarounds for oodles of bugs[1], so it might be
prudent to do that in this case, too. Even if it isn't a bug *in
Libtool* per se.

[1] Some also come back later when the bug is fixed upstream and claim
that Libtool is buggy in that it works around a bug ...
