Being Armenian, I have never seen that symbol in use in internet in the
texts, it is an "ancient symbol". I could find some information in the
internet: [1], [2].
[2] Says: "All variations of the very popular, almost national, Armenian
symbol of eternity  found practically on every decorative church relief
and Khatchqar".

But ahead of the fact that the symbol is missing from Unicode, I agree to
leave it unmapped for now.

Thank you, I searched the net for the filename and found the new address
of the document(s), see [3], [4].

No, as [4] says, "armew is a "ligature symbol" rather than a ligature".
It _is_ used frequently, "ew" means "and", and we use it not only as a
ligature as in M&Ms but mainly as one of two forms (see section 2.3 in
[4]) of writing "and" anywhere in the middle of the sentence. In
handwriting the "ew" is the _only_ way of writing "and", except when "And"
is written as the first word in the sentence (that is, beginning with Big
sign), when we write Big "E" and small "w" as separate symbols.
