It was caused by my error insert of the following code snippet into my
init.el with redundant `setq`:

(setq TeX-outline-extra
       '(("[ \t]*\\\\\\(bib\\)?item\\b" 7)
         ("\\\\bibliography\\b" 2)))

Now, it works as shown in the attached screenshot.
